Fossilised Wood Branch Bevel Cut, fossil for sale from Madagascar. This stunning 6.3cm long piece is a section from a Fossil Wood log that has been polished on its top and base to reveal the vividly coloured Jaspers which have replaced the original wood very slowly in the process of silicification. The edges of the piece are the natural unpolished wood.
Displaying rich beige, caramel, and chocolate-brown tones in distinctive patterns, this sophisticated piece is unique in both appearance and origin. The Fossil Wood is sourced from the Araucaria tree, which is more commonly known as the Monkey Puzzle Tree. Originating from the Triassic Period, this piece is 248 million years old and thus a spectacular historical item. The Monkey Puzzle Tree population is in decline today, so here is a chance to own a living fossil from Madagascar. Ideal for a collector or for interior decor.
