Red Pyrope Garnet Crystals For Sale (Garnet Stones)

This gorgeous Garnet Crystal Sphere measuring 5.1cm in diameter displays stunning, wine-red hues topped with sparkling, twinkling ruby-red flecks.

All Crystal Spheres (Crystal Balls) come with a complementary Plastic Crystal Display Stand

This Garnet Sphere has been sympathetically polished to leave gemmy natural druzy crystal cavities which are particularly spectacular in colour in the sunlight.

When exposed to sunlight, Pyrope Garnet is magnificent in all its shimmering, shining glory.

Some Garnet Stones display shining silver-grey Mica alongside the gem-like glittering druzy crystals

It is rare to see Pyrope Garnet cut into polished crystal shapes like crystal spheres, eggs, and palm stones given the difficulty of working the stone: we are thankful that our skilled artisans are able to create high-quality polished Pyrope Garnet in our workshop in India.

What Is Garnet Made Of?

Garnets are a group of silicate minerals which includes the Almandine Garnet variety, and the stunning Pyrope Garnet variety, of which this piece is a specimen.

Almandine (also known as Almandite) is an Iron Aluminium Garnet mineral showcasing a deep red colour and this colour can sometimes verge towards purple, whereas Pyrope Garnet contains more magnesium content compared to Almandine Garnet's high iron content.

The colour of Garnet is often compared to the colour of Rubies, and for this reason, Garnet is sometimes referred to as Almandine Ruby.

Pyrope Garnet's name is derived from the Greek word 'puropus', which means 'fire-eyed', in referenced to the shimmering, fiery colours of Pyrope Garnet.

Where Does Garnet Come From?

Garnet can be found in many countries worldwide, including Brazil, Sri Lanka, and the USA.

Our Pyrope Garnet Crystals, including this piece, are crystals from India, a country renowned for its high-quality crystals

More specifically, this Pyrope Garnet Crystal was sourced from Orissa/ Odisha in the Bay of Bengal, India.

Garnet History

Red Garnet is one of the oldest gemstones known to have been cut by man, and it was very popular with Roman jewellery makers.

Red gemstones, usually Red Garnets, were historically called carbuncles.

The name 'Garnet' was derived from the Latin word for seeds, and it is thought Garnet was given this name owing to its deep red colour which is similar in shade to the red seeds of Pomegranates.

Garnet Crystal Healing Properties

Garnet is revered by Crystal Healers for its warm, fiery energy, much like its warm reddish hues.

If you are lacking in motivation and energy, Garnet can be used as a Crystal Healing Stone to help lift your mood.

Garnet Chakras

Garnet, like Ruby, resonates powerfully with both the Heart Chakra and Root Chakra (Base Chakra).

Garnet: Heart Chakra Stone

Like the Ruby, Garnet is deeply associated with the Heart Chakra, and is said to enhance passion and love in one's relationships when used as a Heart Chakra Crystal.

Garnet: Root Chakra Stone

Garnet is also a very grounding stone, and therefore can be used as a Root Chakra Crystal to enhance one's connection to the Earth.

How Hard Is Garnet?

Pyrope Garnet measures 7 to 7.5 on the Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness, which means that it is a very durable mineral resistant to scratching, but care should still be taken not to damage the crystal surface, especially if rough druzy crystals are exposed.

Garnet is a harder mineral than Quartz, but is still softer than the hardest minerals such as Ruby

Garnet Crystal Care

It is not recommended to soak this Garnet Crystal in water, at the very least not for prolonged periods of time and not in salt water.

Although Pyrope Garnet is a hard mineral on the Mohs Scale and therefore should be safe in water, Pyrope Garnets such as this piece often display many natural crystal cavities and fissures which make the stone vulnerable to damage and breakage if the cavities absorb water during submersion.

To cleanse your Garnet Crystal, simple use a little bit of water and dry it afterwards with a cloth.

Garnet Collections

This stunning Pyrope Garnet Crystal Sphere is a stunningly beautiful Red Crystal, and would be an excellent addition to any Crystal Collection
