Phylloceras Ammonites
This particular Ammonite pair, of the Phylloceras species, is a magnificent 9.2cm wide. These wonderful brown fossils display intricate swirling patterns and deep caramel, chocolate-brown, yellow, and cream tones upon their highly polished surfaces.
This fossil consists of an Ammonite cut and polished to create a striking pair. Both of the pieces display highly polished surfaces and a a rough outer natural shell with intricate fern-like suture patterns.
The fossil pattern reveals gorgeous colourful internal calcite chambers.
This fossil's colours were caused by calcite minerals replacing the original organic material present in the Ammonite creature during its decay.
Fossils from the Cretaceous period
